OUR HISTORY

Batoray was founded in 1987 by David, Marty, Steve and Joe Egbers as a wholesale distribution branch of Ludlow Hardware Company.  Located just three miles west of Covington, Kentucky and Cincinnati, Ohio, our mission was to provide batteries and lighting products to wholesale customers in the Greater Cincinnati area.  Our wholesale division experienced tremendous growth in the first few years, and by our tenth anniversary we had customers in over 40 states. It was then in 1997 we decided to sell our retail hardware operation and devote 100% of our time to wholesale distribution. As we made sales calls, and listened to our customers, we realized we could use our knowledge of the industrial/retail hardware trade and add gloves, safety glasses, and other industrial related work gear to our existing lines of batteries and lighting products. 

In October 2008 we launched our own line of battery assemblies.  All battery assemblies are built in house and of the highest quality of materials and workmanship.  Many of the assemblies we build are stock items for immediate shipment.  Any other assembly can be built same day or next day.  We currently build over 850 different battery assemblies. 

David worked for a major battery and flashlight manufacturer for 30 years.  Steve and Joe (David’s sons) grew up around the battery business, and both sons owned and operated Ludlow Hardware Company from 1985-1997.
